A hill-town rail yard reborn (1987–present) – Bayview Shopping Centre occupies what were once railway sidings and a small amusement park on Sea View Road. It opened in 1987 as the town’s first indoor precinct, giving Colwyn Bay a weather-proof, pedestrian link between the high street and the beach front.
Easy to reach, easy to park – Just two minutes from the A55 and a four-minute walk from Colwyn Bay railway station, the centre offers 500 free parking spaces (three-hour limit) and level, fully-covered access throughout.
Who’s inside? – Anchor tenants include Morrisons, Home Bargains, Heron Foods, Superdrug, Bonmarché, The Works, Card Factory, Holland & Barrett, Specsavers, Hays Travel, Savers, an Amazon Locker, and a Travelodge hotel entrance, alongside independents, cafés and seasonal pop-ups.
Facilities & vibe – Automatic doors, wide malls, free Wi-Fi, baby-change, accessible toilets and a bright “Kids Zone” play area make it family-friendly. The management runs regular charity drives, craft stalls and festival-themed events (e.g., St David’s Day pop-up market, summer Lego trail).
Big changes on the horizon – In June 2025 owners Moorfield Contracts submitted plans for a major makeover: part-demolition of dated frontage, a bigger street-level entrance for Morrisons, two new cafés, a gym, fresh brick-and-glass façades and additional public realm. Public consultations began in March and a planning decision is expected later this year.
Opening hours – Most units trade Mon–Sat 07:00–20:00, Sun 10:00–16:00, though Morrisons and the gym (once built) operate extended hours.
